When people are shopping for a new product or service they want to make the best choice. They are likely thinking:

  1. Which product is the best choice?
  2. Will this really solve my problem?
  3. Can I trust this company?
  4. Is the quality good?
  5. What should I be looking for to make an informed decision?>
  6. Will I like it?
  7. What is a good price?

That is not a complete list, but it gives you an idea of the mental process people go through when considering a purchase.

Even simple purchases like a pack of gum involve this process. It’s just shorter and there is less risk involved with making a poor choice. You can take advantage of your knowledge of the customer buying process by thinking of things you can give away for free.

Give away free information, like a report or a pamphlet, which answers their questions and helps them make an informed decision.

  • Give away free samples so they know they like your product before they purchase.
  • Give away your time by way of a free consultation or speaking at community events.
  • Volunteer at local organizations or donate your products. Giving generates receiving.

The more you give away the more you will get in return. When you focus on serving your community and potential customers your reputation and sales will grow.
